Traveling Alone and Destination Florida

Florida, USA. Who doesn’t love the sunshine, tanlines, cold drinks, and beautiful ocean views?

Florida is the perfect place to vacation. No matter the weather, it is bound to be warmer than home… if you are from New England, of course. Boarding a flight to your vacation destination is a wonderful experience. For those who have yet to travel alone, I encourage it. Here is why:

  1. Peace of Mind – So the trip is only about three hours IF you are lucky enough not to experience delays.  Taking the time to lay back, put your headphones in, and read a good book can be the perfect getaway.  Avoiding the overbearing presence of your cell phone and internet connection for a few hours can be perfect for peace-of-mind.
  2. A New Attitude – You get off of the plane with a new attitude because you have taken the time to think through some things that have been bothering you. Maybe you have even stumbled upon a solution. The most important part? Traveling alone brings a new confidence that you may not have recognized before.
  3. Independence – Next time you board a solo flight, you will be more positive and less wary.  Traveling alone can be frightening, especially for teens and young adults.  The first time you complete a solo flight you will be ready to do it all over again and, if you are like me, you look forward to it!
  4. Stress Free Flying – Enjoy the food & beverages they offer you on the plane.  They are typically included in the flight package and, if you take advantage, it is less to pack on your own.  Sometimes you get lucky and there will be an empty seat beside you for extra space to chill out during the flight.

Traveling alone will seem scary the first time, believe me. I was a nervous wreck, but I got on and felt like a new person when we landed. Sometimes you even meet a new friend on the flight over.  Flying alone allows for a totally different flight experience.  Take the time to really learn about the trip and everything that goes into it.

I love the flight itself, but I love the beach even more.  Looking out at the palm trees and ocean once you land is my favorite welcome.  Florida makes you feel right at home.  Every time I go to Florida I like to travel around different sites.  As much as I like to lay on the beach, there is so much more to see! Below are some of my recent hot spots.

  • Lion Country Safari – I took SO many pictures of the animals in this beautiful wild kingdom.  The animals roam free in front of the car.  It is unbelievable. The experience is so breathtaking that you never want to leave.  This is as close to a safari you will get in the Sunshine State.  We had a group of zebras casually roaming the street in front of the car. At the end you can walk around the theme park and actually feed the giraffes.  Check it out…

  • Palm Beach Zoo- Safe to say that I love the animals.  Everywhere I go I want to visit the local zoo.  Palm Beach Zoo was small, but full of excitement. The tropical birds and fun backdrops were my favorite.  They had “photo op” signs hanging all around the park.  The park had two adorable baby Grizzly Bears who had just arrived.  They were worth the whole trip.
  • Worth Avenue – Love to shop? So do I… Worth Avenue is a go-to destination for self proclaimed “fashionistas.”  Along the back alleys are cute cafes, art galleries, and delicious restaurants.  Though I could only window shop in the affluent shopping center, I pledged to come back again.

If you haven’t made a trip to Florida yet I recommend you do.  From the North to the South Coast, Florida has destinations for the whole family.  Orlando, The Palm Beaches, Key West, and Miami are among the best spots for anyone looking to enjoy the East Coast sunshine.  Winter is the best time to go, so book your trip now!

{My favorite, recommended airline is JetBlue – Extra Speed}
