The Benefits of Coconut + Coco Products

Coconuts are known for something very specific… that’s right, reminding us of the tropics. Whenever I think of coconuts I dream of beaches, sand beneath my feet, and a fruity drink by my side. However, that is not what this blog is all about. Coconut is actually great for a variety of different things. Between its health benefits, incredible smell, and flavor as a tasty treat you can’t go wrong with the fruit. I never really enjoyed coconut products until this year and now I am blown away with the power of the coconut. It’s no superhero, it’s a superfood.

The benefits of coconut (from Sun Warrior – Health Hub):

  1. Provides a natural source of quick energy and enhances performance
  2. Improves digestion and absorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals
  3. Restores and supports thyroid function
  4. Promotes weight loss
  5. Keeps hair and skin healthy and youthful looking, prevents wrinkles, sagging skin, age spots, and provides sun protection

That last note stands out the most to me because HELLO BEAUTY BENEFITS!

There is no doubt that I will be consuming coconut and using it in my products all summer long. I have a few favorites that I keep stocked in the pantry, fridge, and in the beauty collection.

My favorite products made with coconut:

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula

with Vitamin E

Palmer’s products are free of parabens, mineral oil, sulfates, phthalates, gluten, GMOs, and harsh chemicals. They are made with certified organic extra virgin coconut oil and they are absolutely fabulous for stocking the bathroom cabinets with. My favorite product of them all is the hydrating facial mask because I am always looking for new masks to improve my skin.

They also have a cleansing balm, facial moisturizer, facial scrub, and facial oil which are extra moisturizing and really make your skin glow! Check out the products here

Vita Coco Coconut Water

This is by far my favorite coconut water. I love the pineapple flavor, but the others are all equally tasty. It is very refreshing before and/or after a workout. I don’t drink a hall container at once. Actually, I usually will pour half into a glass and save the rest for later in the day. It comes in three different sizes (330ml, 500ml, and 1L) and you can buy it at pretty much any grocery store. The best part, in my opinion, is that there are only 45 calories in an 8oz serving!

Nature’s Way Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Did you know coconut oil can be used as a replacement for butter? It’s sweet flavor is especially perfect when used in baked goods. It can be utilized as a teeth whitener, moisturizer, lip scrub, hair mask or bath oil, according to Whole Foods Market. The Nature’s Way product is definitely my favorite and I do not like all of the coconut oils I’ve tried in the past. If they are saturated with too many other ingredients or are lesser quality they become impure and more difficult to work with.

It’s great to just keep it stocked in the house because it will likely not go to waste! Check out all of their products here

The Body Shop Coconut Lip Butter

The Body Shop has a wonderfully-scented product selection, as you can imagine. The coconut line has always been one of my favorites. Specifically, I love their coconut lip butter which is made with virgin coconut oil to keep your lips “soft and nourished” all day.

It is currently on sale for $4.20 (normally $7.00) which is a steal so you should definitely check it out here or your local store location and try it yourself!

OGX Coconut Milk Shampoo & Conditioner

I have tried several products from the OGX collection, but the coconut milk leaves your hair silky, shiny, and smooth. I love the end results of the treatment. It is made with a blend of organic coconut milk and egg whites… what a combo! And, of course, there is coconut oil that makes this product so coconutty. The bottles are about $6 each.

Check out their all new damage remedy + coconut miracle oil products here. You can find the product at Target, drugstores, and grocery stores near you.

I am always looking for new and unique ways to fold coconut products into my daily routine.

All photos in this post are saved from the brand websites and are in no way my own.
