Microsoft HackerX

I was invited to the Microsoft Hacker X Speaker Series: Future of Big Data that took place last night, April 11th. The event was held at Microsoft NERD (New England Research & Development) Center in Cambridge, MA where new ideas are brought to life EVERY DAY.

Check out this beautiful view from the event space

I was unsure of what to expect upon attending the new event, but was open to new ideas and networking. Attending as a blogger, social media manager, and student definitely set me apart. There were professionals in all different tech industries, companies, and backgrounds involved. There were many people to meet!

The agenda was very straight-forward with an hour of networking before event start, the guest speaker, and time to meet with the Microsoft teams from around New England.

Everyone was given a raffle ticket to win their newest fitness product!

Unfortunately, I did not win the raffle… BUT I gained lots of knowledge on tech, data, and what’s in the future for Microsoft (not only in New England, but globally).  There is a lot in store and I look forward to seeing the advancement coming our way in the next few years.

I attended with my good friend and fellow student-blogger Amanda. We made many connections and enjoyed the speech by T.K. Ranga Rengarajan, Corporate Vice President, Data Platform, Cloud & Enterprise at Microsoft Corporation. He was a fantastic speaker who had a vast knowledge of the industry and a true passion for the future of technology.

Future of Big Data

One of my favorite takeaway quotes from his speech was:

We are only limited by our desire

We truly are limited by our desire which is why it’s important to ALWAYS reach further and pursue one’s passions. It may take months or years, but keeping a clear visual of the goals you wish to achieve can make them happen! It’s desire, commitment, and refusal to fail that keeps us moving along the path to success.

Billions of People

From One Idea to BILLIONS of People #BuildOn

I will, without a doubt, be attending the next event Hacker X hosts in Boston. I hope to return to the NERD center again soon. There is so much to learn and many people to meet; attending events is the perfect way to do both of these things.
