Two things I love that make the perfect pair are classic A&W® Root Beer Floats and making memories with family & friends. My family has always been so close. We create so many special moments with one another. Many of which, unsurprisingly, involves treats.

There were so many times growing up when I got to enjoy sweet moments with my family. My mom, a lover of root beer floats, made it a routine to watch classic movies I hadn’t seen yet and enjoy a late night snack. She would whip up all sorts of easy delicacies including chocolate drizzled popcorn, root beer floats, and melt-in-your-mouth cookies. Many of my favorite movies came from these nights we spent (and still spend) together.

This year marks the 100th Anniversary of A&W Root Beer, my soda of choice. To celebrate, my sister and I went to Walmart to pick up all of the ingredients (only 3!) for root beer floats. We came home and enjoyed our full A&W Root Beer floats in front of the TV, this time swapping out a classic movie for the NHL Eastern Conference playoff game.

Pro Tip: Whenever you’re in a pinch for a crowd-pleasing dessert, A&W Root Beer floats do not disappoint. Plus, they only have three ingredients and require no baking.

How I make my A&W Root Beer Floats:

1 | A&W Root Beer

2 | Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

3 | Whipped Cream

Plop one scoop of ice cream, 8 ounces of A&W Root Beer, and a generous spray of whipped cream into your mug. Voila! You have your root beer float.  It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Walmart is one of my go-to stores for just about anything… and everything. The best part, of course, how big the selection is! We have a supercenter near our house which has a full grocery store inside. They always have what I’m looking for so I don’t have to go store to store trying to check off my shopping list.

I recommend purchasing one bottle of A&W Root Beer, one 1.5 quart of ice cream, and two cans of whipped cream for every four people in your crowd. Because of these moments that mean so much to me, I intend to carry my family’s sweet treat tradition on with my own kids someday. There is no doubt that A&W Root Beer will be on my family movie night, game day, and summer party line-ups.
