The Kitchen Knives We Couldn’t Live Without

This post has been created in partnership with Kamikoto.
Photos and opinions are, as always, our own.

When we moved into our apartment the last thing I thought of was which knives to be. I was more concerned about just having the basics… and saving some money on them. BUT, you should never skimp on kitchen essentials and I learned that the hard way. The knives I purchased were impossible to work with and made cooking very frustrating.

I was introduced to Kamikoto just over a year ago when researching chef’s knives for Paul. He specifically requested one high-quality knife for Christmas and was positive that he preferred Japanese over German. Of course, I knew nothing about knives and took his word for it. My searches led me to stumble upon Kamikoto, the best knives I’ve ever used in my life and what are now a must-have in our kitchen.

The set I ultimately ended up purchasing was the Kanpeki Knife Set. Their promotion at the time (and they’re always running good ones) got me the set of three for under $300. It was a steal for the quality of the blades! And, it came with a Toishi Whetstone. The set is currently bundled for $297.

Then, after using these for months, we partnered with Kamikoto for Father’s Day and introduced their Kensei Knife Set which has been great for using on wild game, Paul’s specialty. We also geeked out when we received the 13-inch Yanagiba, a blade that is perfect for their fishing expeditions (particularly when fileting bluefin tuna).

These knives are the right price-point for gifting and are offered in bundles that make it possible to either separate into several gifts, keep one for yourself, or buy them and keep them all for yourself (I’m all for that!). Their ‘Early Black Friday’ offers are now available for shopping.
