We headed over to The Standard for lunch before exploring Fort Myers and lounging on the beach. It was nicer than your usual ‘casual dining’ restaurant with lots of seating. I liked the decor in here and loved the upbeat dining atmosphere. The Standard is a great place to catch a sporting event on the TV (basketball at the time) or to hang out with friends for a burger and a beer (yum).
There are several places to dine including a private room in back for larger parties, seating outside of the main restaurant (inside of a hotel), outdoors in front of the restaurant, and the bar. You definitely have your options depending on what mood you’re in! From your table inside you can see the chefs cooking up the meals and placing them in the window for delivery. It’s nice to have everything so open and helps to open up the environment and make it more relaxed.
To start we ordered the teriyaki chicken wings which were delicious! Paul & I love ordering wings when we’re grabbing a bite and these did not disappoint. They had several other flavors as well including the traditional buffalo wing. 🍗
For the main course I got the burger with an array of toppings including sauteed onion, bacon, cheddar, lettuce, and their homemade sauce. The burger came on a lightly grilled bun and it was really tasty. It was also very large and came with fries so I could only make it halfway before drawing the line (leftovers for tomorrow, am I right?). 🍔
For his meal, Paul ordered the fish tacos and they looked so good! I was kind of jealous I didn’t order these myself… They were topped with cabbage, queso fresco, pico de gallo, their ‘secret sauce’, and lemon wedges. 🌮
Thanks to Chris, Owner & Chef, we enjoyed a scrumptious dessert of Key Lime Pie Cheesecake Bites. They were really yummy. I should have asked for the recipe because we’ve been craving them since we left! 🥄
